Tata Motors Limited was established in 1945 and began manufacturing locomotives. The Company’s first commercial vehicle was manufactured in 1954. Tata Motors Limited is India’s largest automobile company. The Company is the world’s fifth largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer, and world’s second largest medium and heavy bus manufacturer.

Acquisitions
- In 2004 Tata Motors acquired Daewoo's truck manufacturing unit, now known as Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, in South Korea.
- In 2005, Tata Motors acquired 21% of Aragonese Hispano Carrocera giving it controlling rights of the company.
- In 2007, Formed a joint venture with Marcopolo of Brazil and introduced low-floor buses in the Indian Market.

In 2004, Daewoo motors ware about to bankruptcy, employee ware unhappy with the companies performance in Korea and related country. Tata Motors was the new owner. In 2004 Tata motors take its first move towered globalization by aquacition of Deawoo motors.
Tata promises the job security of the Deawoo employies. And Tata Motors used the name of the old company Deawoo.
After birth of Tata Deawoo Commercial Vehicle the new company was back to thack to rialto victory. And over the 4 years, Export jumps around 4 times to 4,280 from 874 units. Revenues more then double to 673 billion won(korean currency) from 292 billion won and operative profit grew more then eight times.

Tata Marcopolo Motors
Tata Marcopolo Motors is a 51:49 joint venture of Tata Motors and Marcopolo of Brazil. This joint venture have 30,000 unit plant to produce full range of world class intra-city and inter-city world class buses, the state-of-the-art bus manufacturing facility of Tata Marcopolo Motors at Dharwad (Karnataka) has begun commercial production. The Dharwad plant will cater to India’s growing need for world-class fully built buses for intra-city and inter-city transportation with international standard comfort, quality and safety.The plant will produce a comprehensive range of buses. The range, to be marketed under the ‘Starbus’ and ‘Globus’ brands, includes 16- to 54-seater standard buses, 18- and 45-seater luxury
The plant, at full capacity, will generate over 6,500 direct jobs.

Tata Automobile Corporation SA was set up as a subsidiary of Tata Africa Holdings to market and distribute Tata vehicles (passenger cars and medium and heavy commercial vehicles) in South Africa.
In 2005,sensing an opportunity in the fully built bus segment, Tata Motors acquired a 21% stake in Hispano Carrocera South Affrica, The leading European bus and coach cabin cabin maker. In 2009, the company picked up the 79% stake in Hispano Carrocera SA for an undisclosed sum, making it a fully owned subsidiary.

Jaguar Cars, founded in 1922, is one of the world’s premier manufacturers of luxury saloons and sports cars. Land Rover has been manufacturing 4x4s since 1948. Its products have defined the segments in which they operate.
Jaguar manufactures it vehicles in UK. And have over 16,000 business employs and about 3,500 engineers in two product development centers. On 27 march 2008 , Tata motors reached an agreement with ford to purchase their Jaguar Land Rover operations for US$2.3 billion.
